»Comparing apples

best before …

You sit and have breakfeast and you half-conciously study the packagings on the table: ingredients, recepies … in a moment like that the idea must have popped up in my head to illustrate the evanescence of time with best before dates.

The result is a low-calorie tear-off calendar for the whole year and with it an enrichment of the daily visual diet: cheese days, juice days, crisps days …

At that time many people feared that the millennium would blow up in their faces and that everything would pass away with it. That certainly had an influence on my work. And my constant joy of little absurdities and beauties of every day life.

Eventually I would like to realise an international edition by the way with products from all of the Euorpean member states …

One of the wittiest and wisest contributions to our transition into the year 2000: a satirical objection against the turn of the millennium pathos.

Matthias Kamann, magazine of the German national newspaper FAZ Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung

Not only is this calendar fun to look at, it is fun to hold in your hands and flip through the deck of cards. It is kind of like a guessing game for the viewer.

An idea of classical simplicity. You just had to think of it.
