»Comparing apples
and oranges is my
daily bread.«

Juli Gudehus

Genesis, Carlsen edition

Carlsen had the good idea to edit my »Genesis« in a landscape format, with four instead of eight lines per page. They kept the multilingualism of the Lars Müller edition.

Gudehus used internationally recognizable pictograms, but also well-known commercial logos to render flora and fauna. With that, her pictographical bible translation becomes a witty cultural critique as well: the animals and plants from brand logos are as »natural« to us as God’s creation.
